The Hunter Legend 35.5, produced from 1989 to 1995, serves as a capable coastal cruiser featuring a solid fiberglass hull reinforced by an internal fiberglass grid system.2:43 The 35-foot-7-inch vessel utilizes a shallow 4-foot-6-inch winged bulb keel and a 7/8 fractional rig with double spreaders, eschewing the B&R rig found on other Hunter models.4:07 A Harken furling drum mounted below deck in the anchor locker keeps the bow clear for ground tackle.4:51 The interior offers 6-foot-3-inch headroom, a J-shaped galley, and a roomy aft cabin, though the shallow hull limits storage space beneath the settees.7:43 While the boat performs well in coastal waters, the shallow-draft rudder can struggle with control in winds exceeding 18 knots, necessitating early reefing.7:14 Owners should prioritize inspecting the balsa-cored deck for water penetration, a common issue in boats of this era.13:37 The Hunter Legend 35.5 provides a comfortable, voluminous layout for couples, provided the intended use remains coastal cruising rather than heavy-weather offshore passages.
