The 1985 CS30 sloop, a 30-foot monohull with a 5.5-foot draft and 10-foot beam, serves as a capable, budget-friendly liveaboard for solo offshore sailing.Watch Powered by a 26-horsepower engine with exceptional maintenance access, the vessel features a 35-pound Mantis anchor deployed by hand, as the boat lacks a windlass.0:15 The cockpit includes a dodger and bimini for weather protection, while the interior maximizes space with a folding table that converts the salon into a large berth or open area.6:08 A composting toilet system manages waste without the odors associated with conventional marine heads.25:14 The galley is compact but functional, featuring a two-burner stove with pot holders and a dedicated cutting board surface.20:04 The owner has successfully navigated the boat over 3,500 nautical miles from Ontario, Canada, to the Dominican Republic, traversing the Erie Canal and cruising through the Bahamas and Cuba.0:24 The CS30 demonstrates that a small, affordable sailboat can provide sufficient comfort and stability for long-distance, independent cruising.
