The crew of a Catalina 36, currently docked in Miami, performs a series of interior modifications to prepare for a passage to Panama.0:18 They replace old, mildewed salon cushions with new foam and Sunbrella fabric, utilizing a Singer Heavy Duty sewing machine to construct custom covers.7:38 To improve living space and create a secure area for their child, they replace fixed table legs with adjustable, removable pedestals, allowing the salon table to convert into a double berth.0:49 The project includes repurposing wood from removed cabinetry to build a folding desk in the forward cabin and installing internal partitions in storage lockers to organize galley supplies.16:58 The crew also cleans bilge areas with white vinegar to remove mold and conducts a comprehensive inventory of provisions, storing dry goods in airtight containers to maximize space.12:30 These renovations aim to improve comfort at anchor and functionality during offshore watches.9:49
