The Chess Team motorhome, a 2,700-kilogram vehicle, lost power and stalled on a steep, sandy mountain pass near Antofagasta, Argentina, after the engine cooling system vented pressure due to high altitude.1:58 The crew struggled to reverse or gain traction on the loose, washboard-surfaced terrain.3:36 Two 4x4 vehicles, a Toyota Hilux and another pickup, successfully towed the motorhome to a level section of the trail, preventing the crew from becoming stranded in the remote Salar de Antofaya.4:01 The hosts attribute the power loss to a combination of steep gradients, high altitude, and potentially clogged air and fuel filters caused by heavy dust exposure during 680 kilometers of off-road driving.5:34 After reaching Antofagasta, the crew spent four days cleaning the vehicle, refueling, and restocking supplies.19:43 They later hiked the Antofagasta volcano with companions, encountering extreme wind gusts near the summit.14:13 The crew plans to transition from motorhome travel to sailing and intends to document the process of searching for and purchasing a boat.22:44
