After returning to their boat in Puerto Calero, Lanzarote, following a holiday break in Germany, the crew of Blue Horizon performs a series of refit projects and completes their Advanced Open Water diving certification.1:14 The primary mechanical repair involves the steering system, which had become stiff in high temperatures.12:30 The owners identify a plastic component that expands under heat, causing friction within the steering shaft.13:55 They source a custom replacement part from Woodlock in England, disassemble the steering quadrant, loosen the chain and wire cables, and use heat to remove a seized bearing before installing the new components.12:36 The steering now operates smoothly.18:46 Additionally, the crew services their scuba tanks, upgrades their onboard cinema setup with a retractable screen, and prepares new gear for wingfoiling, including a board, foil, and helmet.7:18 They conclude their stay in the Canary Islands by completing deep-water dives to 30 meters, observing local marine life such as dusky groupers.17:07
