After completing extensive hull repairs and maintenance, the crew of a cruising sailboat relaunches their vessel at a Florida boatyard. The project included sanding and painting the hull, repairing structural damage, sealing windows and rub rails, and installing new vinyl boat names and logos. To ensure long-term reliability, the owners performed the work themselves, allowing them to document all systems and build a comprehensive maintenance database. They also inventoried and stocked essential spare parts, citing the ease of sourcing marine supplies via online retailers in the United States as a primary reason for choosing this location. The boatyard allowed the owners to live aboard during the haul-out, which significantly reduced costs compared to renting external accommodation. The total cost for the crane service was $700, with daily yard fees ranging between $30 and $45.12:21 The crew also inspected their anchor chain for oxidation and re-marked the links to improve depth accuracy during future anchoring.23:41 Performing DIY repairs provides the intimate system knowledge necessary for troubleshooting emergencies at sea.32:30
