Sinomar Godois Tavares and Edivane navigate a night passage from Ilha Itaparica to Morro de São Paulo, Brazil, after a planning error forces them into open water.0:18 Heavy seas and high winds cause the sailboat to pitch violently once the crew drops the sails and relies solely on the engine.0:11 The loss of stability makes steering difficult, and the crew struggles to maintain a reliable power supply for a smartphone running Navionics for navigation.1:29 A faulty charging cable prevents the phone from charging until Sinomar manages to connect an inverter to the 110V system.1:55 During the transit, Edivane suffers from seasickness and reports water ingress, which the pair eventually determines is not an emergency.2:42 The crew navigates in total darkness, eventually anchoring in 5 meters of water near fishing structures around 11:30 p.m. after a difficult approach.5:55 Relying on electronic navigation in rough conditions requires redundant power solutions to prevent total loss of situational awareness.
