Experienced cruisers and prospective buyers attend international boat shows to compare new vessel designs, troubleshoot installed equipment, and gather inspiration for refits. Attendees report that modern catamarans have increased in volume by 30% to 40% compared to older models, offering improved interior space and visibility. While some sailors visit to scout potential purchases, others use the events to consult directly with manufacturers and technicians about specific gear, such as watermakers and B&G electronics, following recent vessel deliveries. Boat shows provide a venue to tour high-end yachts that may not be available in domestic markets, allowing owners to identify innovative design features or hardware solutions to adapt for their own boats. Despite the logistical challenges of travel and accommodation, participants emphasize that the ability to compare multiple models in one location and build personal relationships with builders and service providers justifies the effort.18:53
