Damien and Jess host a group of Australian Navy Cadets from TS Bundaberg aboard their 10-year-rebuilt fishing trawler, Brupeg, for a training session on maneuvering a heavy vessel.Watch To improve visibility during docking, Damien installs four external cameras mounted on stainless steel brackets, allowing the helmsman to monitor bow, stern, and midship lines from the wheelhouse.1:58 The crew demonstrates docking techniques using a springer line, rudder angle, and engine thrust to pivot the boat against a wharf.17:44 During the training, the crew identifies an engine misalignment that limits the vessel to short, low-speed trips until repairs are completed.11:14 The session also includes a drone flight demonstration, which ends when the drone crashes into the water during a landing attempt.23:43 The owners plan to spend the following weeks realigning the motor and installing stabilizers before attempting a trial passage to Musgrave Island.30:02 Using cameras and fixed bollards significantly improves situational awareness when maneuvering a vessel with limited wheelhouse visibility.
