The construction of the aluminum catamaran Delos 2.0 involves the installation of over 20 custom hatches and numerous windows to maximize ventilation and 360-degree visibility from the interior helm.0:36 To ensure a flush-mount finish, the team recessed the hatches into the deck, requiring the fabrication of a dedicated drainage system to prevent water pooling.11:47 The installation process for the windows includes cleaning the aluminum surfaces with acetone, applying primer, and using a four-mil spacer to maintain consistent clearance for the adhesive backfill.1:30 The crew selected Rutgerson hatches, which feature UV-stable, tinted acrylic and integrated air vents that allow for airflow during rain.13:56 To manage costs and maintain a consistent aesthetic, the team utilized large hatches as watertight doors for the aft lounge rather than commissioning custom-built doors.12:51 The design prioritizes natural light and airflow to address previous ventilation issues experienced on their former vessel.10:37
