The crew of the catamaran *Escapade* upgrades their cruising gear by installing a new Dacron radial-cut mainsail, a 25kg stainless steel Rocna anchor, and 70 meters of Chromox G60 316L stainless steel chain.10:54 They sourced the mainsail from Southeast Asia Sales in Phuket, Thailand, noting the company’s ability to manage international customs and shipping.12:12 The crew replaced their old galvanized chain with stainless steel to prevent the chain from piling up in the locker and to eliminate rust stains on the deck.13:30 To manage ongoing canvas repairs, they purchased a Sailrite Ultrafeed LSZ1 sewing machine and learned to re-stitch their sail bag and mark Lazy Jack lines with tape to simplify reassembly.9:34 The crew also installed a custom wooden spice rack to improve galley storage.5:41 Practical experience shows that stainless steel chain feeds more reliably into the locker than galvanized chain, and using a soft shackle to attach the anchor rode provides a necessary emergency release point.16:56
