The crew of the vessel BrewPEG installed 2.9 kilowatts of flexible, thin-film CIGS solar panels from BougeRV on the boat's rear roof to support extended periods at anchor.14:00 Unlike traditional silicon panels, these CIGS units allow for foot traffic and conform to curved surfaces without requiring mounting frames.6:04 The installation process involved gluing the panels directly to the deck using a high-strength, double-sided adhesive.7:10 The final rear-roof configuration includes fourteen 200-watt panels and one 100-watt panel.13:55 To manage shading from the radar mast and antennas, the crew plans to install four additional 200-watt panels on the wheelhouse roof, wired in two separate groups with individual MPPT charge controllers.14:37 Field testing over six months indicates that these panels maintain high voltage output despite partial shading and heavy accumulation of salt, dust, and grit.16:42 The project team intends to monitor long-term performance and degradation over the next 12 months under real-world, high-wear conditions.15:29
