Edgar, lead of the boat-building project, refurbishes a used raw water pump for the engine by polishing the rotor housing and installing new bearings and seals.6:08 He replaces the original hardware with stainless steel Allen bolts to improve future maintenance access.10:41 While awaiting better weather to transport wood for interior cabinetry, he installs permanent glass panels to seal the cabin against water ingress.4:46

The project team consults with representatives from IC Náutica to evaluate plumbing solutions, specifically focusing on True Design composite through-hull fittings and valves.6:55 These Marilon-based, glass-reinforced components offer a lightweight, corrosion-resistant alternative to traditional bronze, eliminating the need for galvanic bonding.15:41 The discussion also covers the AquaLock PEX plumbing system for hot and cold water distribution.18:17 This plug-and-play system uses rigid 2mm-thick tubing and blind-ring O-ring seals to prevent leaks and simplify installation compared to conventional hose-and-clamp setups.19:36 The team explores using a manifold-based distribution center to centralize valve control for easier maintenance access throughout the vessel.22:37

Properly sealing through-hulls and using corrosion-resistant materials prevents catastrophic water ingress and simplifies long-term maintenance.
