A cracked 200-litre polyethylene freshwater tank aboard Yacht Ula is leaking into the bilge at Monastir Marina, and the crew removes it for repair.0:32 The tank — the smaller of two aboard, the other holding roughly 320 litres — sits in the lazarette beneath the gas tanks beside the generator, making extraction awkward: a wooden structural bar and side panel must come out first, and the 35-kilogram tank must be threaded through a tight doorway after disconnecting level-sensor cables and multiple hose connections.1:56 The crack is located on a curved section of the tank wall, the only area showing visible water damage.3:33 The repair method is polyethylene welding: a groove is cut along the crack, then filled and built up using an offcut of PE inlet pipe as filler rod, melted in place.4:03 The crew fills the tank to replicate pressure and sees no immediate leak, but notes the repair cannot simulate the flexing the tank experiences underway.5:48 Replacement was quoted at roughly £400, making the weld attempt worthwhile despite uncertain long-term results.4:09 PE welding on a curved tank surface is difficult to seal fully from the inside, where the crack originates.5:21
