After completing a 3,200-nautical-mile transatlantic crossing, the crew of Jibsea anchors in St. Martin to perform interior boat modifications.0:13 The primary project involves converting an existing storage ottoman into a multi-functional piece of furniture that serves as a table, a storage unit, and a lee cloth for offshore passages.7:14 To maintain the ottoman's original utility, the owner extends the table’s internal height-adjustment key to the exterior of the base, allowing for easy operation without opening the unit.7:42 He replaces a fixed piano hinge with a bolt-and-wing-nut system to enable the top to tilt for storage access while remaining stable when locked.8:10 Two custom-fabricated wooden chocks slide into place to secure the tilted top, creating a rigid lee cloth for use while underway.15:28 The owner finishes the table surface by bonding leather-look vinyl to the wood using epoxy resin and reattaching the original trim.11:48
