The hosts of the Chez Team motorhome, Eze and Chilu, spend several weeks in Quito, Ecuador, performing extensive mechanical repairs and upgrades on their vehicle at a local workshop. Work on the motorhome includes replacing the radiator with a custom-fabricated unit, adjusting valves, repairing a transmission leak, replacing the clutch disc, and overhauling the front suspension. The team also constructs custom mosquito screens for the windows and installs a specialized cable port for shore power connections.14:46 While based in Quito, the hosts assist a local racing team during an off-road event in Santo Domingo, where they witness a collision between a race vehicle and a civilian car on an open-access course.2:15 Following the completion of the mechanical work, the hosts depart Quito to resume their travels across South America. The experience highlights the challenges of balancing long-term vehicle maintenance with the emotional difficulty of parting ways with new friends made on the road.
