Armand and Leah, sailing the 40-foot catamaran *Cosmo*, replace their malfunctioning refrigerator while cruising the Sea of Cortez. After diagnosing the original unit as irreparable due to a failed refrigerant hose and expanded casing, they decide to remove the custom-built teak cabinetry to install a modern Cruise 130 fridge.3:59 Armand performs the demolition manually, using an endoscope to inspect behind the bulkhead and cutting the structure incrementally to avoid damaging hidden support beams.19:20 They source the replacement unit through Deco Marine, a logistics company that handles cross-border shipping and customs from San Diego to Mexico.9:38 While anchored at San Juanico, the crew explores the local biodiversity, spearfishing for grouper and hogfish, and hiking the surrounding desert terrain.11:12 They navigate local social dynamics, including interactions with beach-camping RVers and reports of private land ownership by the Walton family near the anchorage.14:27 The project demonstrates that careful, incremental demolition of custom boat cabinetry allows for precise installation of modern appliances in tight galley spaces.
