Anchoring in Seals Bay on the southern side of Kekova Adasi, Turkey, requires a combination of bow anchoring and dual stern lines to manage proximity to a shallow reef. The crew of the vessel *reality* anchors in 16 meters of water, paying out 34 meters of chain while positioned approximately 45 feet from a reef.13:28 To prevent the boat from rotating or drifting toward the rocks during wind shifts, the crew uses the tender to carry two stern lines ashore, securing them to boulders with rubber-soled footwear for traction.20:04 The lines are tensioned by reversing the engines toward the shore until the stern lines are taut and the anchor is set.26:55 A fender or float is attached to the submerged lines to alert swimmers and kayakers to the underwater hazard.35:20 The crew notes that while gullets often anchor in the more protected northern side of the bay, they prefer this location to avoid having other vessels drop anchors over their chain.19:26
