Brett and Jade Evans leave their sailboat Eva to spend a day with Jake and Nicole, a couple living off-grid in a self-built yurt on forested land in Canada.4:12 Jake and Nicole have spent years developing raw land into a working homestead — growing vegetables in a large garden, foraging wild plants, harvesting kelp, and spearfishing — and are now building a permanent home from recycled shipping containers framed with milled timber from trees felled on the property.4:23 Brett and Jade join them for a full day of foraging walks, wood-splitting, well-pumping, and a wood-fired hot tub that requires hauling water by hand pump.13:07 Brett plants a tree on the property as a marker of Eva's visit.56:25 The group also shoots compound bows, cooks a garden breakfast that includes zucchini blossoms, and walks deep into the forest with bear spray before flying back to the boat.33:16 No sailing, navigation, or boat-maintenance content appears; the focus is the off-grid homestead visit. Brett draws a direct parallel between the cruising mindset and the homesteading mindset — the same appetite for self-sufficiency, hard work, and intentional living that drives one drives the other.33:57
