After a 10-week blister repair at Reebok Island Marina in Malaysia, Colin and the crew of Parlay depart for Phuket, Thailand, aboard their Lagoon 450.0:02 Before leaving, they pressure-test newly fabricated aluminum fuel tank inspection hatches using a bike pump, nitrile rubber gaskets, and a soap-spray leak check at 1 PSI — both the starboard and severely corroded port tanks seal on the first attempt.2:33 The port tank is left empty until its corroded bottom can be replaced.3:07 Diesel bug treatment gets a double dose of biocide before refueling at Telaga Marina, where they take on several hundred liters.15:04 Fuel prices had already risen following US and Israeli strikes on Iran, filmed roughly four weeks prior.15:41 Colin notes liveaboards pay a marina premium on top of that, and flags solar and lithium systems as a hedge against diesel dependence. A registration change is covered in detail: after eight years under Delaware flag, new US residency requirements forced a switch to Langkawi registration — a two-week process costing about USD 1,000, with no survey obligations and worldwide sailing rights.6:34 The crew also borrows a friend's Yamaha 25 hp outboard to deliver to Phuket after their own dinghy motor develops a prop-shaft seal oil leak.21:19 First stop after clearing Malaysian customs in 20 minutes is Koh Lipe, with a two-week Thai grace period before formal check-in.17:00
