Bobby, host of the Sailing Doodles channel, transitioned from a career as a commercial pilot to full-time sailing and content creation after years of international travel. His early sailing experience began on a Sunfish at Lake Tawakonee in East Texas, followed by formal training through the Boy Scouts and later with Island Spirit.1:02 After working as a corporate pilot for a Nigerian oil company and flying for Fly Dubai, he sought a lifestyle change. In 2017, he partnered with Island Spirit to earn his Yachtmaster Offshore rating and deliver a boat from Vancouver.42:16 His subsequent sailing career included a transit around Cape Hatteras, where a transmission fire on his vessel led to a $90,000 repair estimate and the eventual sale of the boat.47:19 He later purchased a motor yacht in Puerto Rico and spent time cruising the Caribbean.47:37 His journey involved various crew members and partners before shifting to his current solo sailing format.48:10
