The pump features a retractable handle and a quick-connect system for hoses. Additionally, he installs a new access hatch cover in an previously open compartment. To address maintenance tasks, he treats heavily oxidized hinges with Ferronet rust-removal gel, soaking them overnight. He also sands down layers of old epoxy and paint on a section of the boat to achieve a smooth finish. During the work, he wears a reusable 3M protective coverall, noting that the garment is durable enough to withstand multiple machine washings over a year of use.
