After anchoring in a crowded bay near Port de Sóller, Mallorca, the crew of the Jibsea left their dinghy in an unauthorized spot, resulting in a large gash to the hull and a broken eyelet when it was crushed against the shore during a storm.7:25 The repair required a multi-stage process: patching the interior hull to provide structural support, followed by an exterior patch to seal the air chamber.11:30 Because the dinghy’s custom weaver snap davit system had also failed, the crew had to source C-clamps from a local hardware store to properly secure the patches while the adhesive cured over three days.7:39 During this period, the crew relocated to a calmer, narrower anchorage to avoid the rolly conditions and crowded, tight-swinging bays they encountered earlier.14:54 The repair proved successful, and the dinghy held air upon re-launching.15:01
