The refit of the Magic Carpet continues with significant interior progress as the crew prepares to relocate the vessel to a Canadian boatyard before their U.S. visas expire.0:30 Work focuses on installing plywood decking in the cockpit and constructing new galley countertops using Alaska yellow cedar.14:40 The crew is also finishing a custom chart table, which they milled from a salvaged tree, by filling seams with color-matched sawdust and applying multiple coats of Total Boat high-performance epoxy.7:06 To ensure a durable, waterproof finish for the galley, the team is fiberglassing the fridge perimeter and planning to seal the countertops with tabletop epoxy followed by Epifanes varnish.9:12 The boatyard move will facilitate the engine installation, utilizing professional crane services rather than manual hoisting.0:57 While the project remains demanding, the transition from structural construction to finishing work—including varnishing and painting—is visually transforming the interior spaces.20:14
