The crew of the Pearson 35 *Uma* installs new interior flooring and a convertible nook-to-table system as part of a comprehensive refit. To prevent squeaking and provide insulation, they glue cork to the underside of the floorboards.1:51 They secure the floorboards using a combination of PYI floorboard-securing screws on one side and custom-fabricated pins on the other, ensuring the boards remain locked in place even if the vessel rolls.14:50 To improve ergonomics, they route rounded edges onto the nook’s frame using a heat gun and a custom-bent radius.3:20 The crew also 3D-printed a notched trowel attachment for a caulking gun to apply construction adhesive more efficiently.6:27 The new nook design sits 10 centimeters higher than the previous version, aligning the tabletop height with the galley counters and allowing for a full-size dining surface that converts into a bed.23:14 The final design incorporates a modified bimini hinge and locking pins to secure the table during offshore sailing at a 21-degree heel.25:04
