The host of the 120-ft carbon-fiber-masted vessel performs maintenance on the keel bolts and hull bottom while preparing for relaunch. An engineer from Portland Yacht Services used a force multiplier to torque the 25 M42 keel bolts to 800 foot-pounds.5:09 Two bolts previously featured plastic washers that failed to maintain proper tension; these were replaced with stainless steel washers and treated with Duralac to prevent galvanic corrosion between the stainless nuts and aluminum components.7:26 The hull bottom received spot repairs to water blisters using Interprotect 2000 and a final coat of Micron CSC antifouling paint.3:44 The host also inspects the masthead for damage, noting a blown-off mainsail track stopper and identifying a need to replace sheaves designed for wire with those suitable for rope.11:54 Future plans include replacing the existing nitronic rigging with carbon or Xylon to reduce weight aloft and improve the boat's righting moment.19:13
