Joshua constructs a 26-foot by 16-foot elevated wooden platform in the woods to support a large tent.24:22 He reuses salvaged lumber from a 2021 build, which necessitates shimming joists and correcting structural layout errors.4:48 To stiffen the frame against lateral forces, he installs diagonal bracing at each corner.5:33 He crafts a traditional timber-framing mallet, known as a commander, to assist in fitting tongue-and-groove floorboards, though the handle snaps during use.10:10 After realizing the floor layout requires a 24-inch shift to accommodate a tent vestibule, he reconfigures the boards.12:11 He uses a log as a battering ram to close gaps caused by shrinking shiplap-profile boards.21:52 The project concludes with the installation of hemlock decking on the front and back of the platform. Cold weather and freezing rain have currently halted progress on his separate boat restoration project.0:11
