Max and Ale, aboard their Beneteau Oceanis 50 Y2K, complete a major lithium battery refit at Scarborough, Queensland, bringing total capacity to 1,200Ah across four EVE 314Ah cells.▶ 8:36 The two new batteries join two existing 304Ah units, all managed by JK BMS units linked in cascade via RS-485 to a Cerbo.▶ 9:01 Custom 3D-printed BMS mounts, designed by a collaborator named Roberto from Malta, house each BMS without direct contact with the cell.▶ 9:23 Each battery gets a dedicated 250A fuse, an individual on/off switch, and a shared alternator protector; the alternator circuit carries its own 150A fuse and dedicated shunt.▶ 15:56 Max also fills 31 jerry cans of diesel — roughly 620 litres — buying fuel off the marina at AUD 1.97/litre rather than the marina price of AUD 2.67, saving over AUD 300.▶ 17:55 A persistent teak deck leak gets treated with Star Brite Natural Teak Sealer applied by foam brush.▶ 20:39 The crew also announces a plan change: instead of rushing 1,700 miles to Torres Strait before their Australian visa expires on 15 August, they will fly home to Italy via a Dubai stopover, return to Y2K around 22 August, and depart north in late August to reach Raja Ampat for the November–February calm season.▶ 1:41
