The owners of a cruising sailboat perform a series of major refit projects while transiting from West Palm Beach to Miami, Florida. The crew replaces the aft cabin mattress using a custom template kit from Ship Shape Bedding, opting for a 10-centimeter Reflex Duo mattress with Active Cool fabric to manage low headroom and tropical heat.4:28 They also undertake DIY rigging replacement with guidance from Sailing Services Miami and prepare for a teak deck replacement using materials from World Panel Products.9:13 To facilitate these upgrades and prepare for a Pacific crossing, the crew provisions for dry goods and orders safety gear, including a new life raft and a Starlink mini, to be delivered to West Marine in North Palm Beach.10:39 The vessel transits the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale, exiting to the ocean to sail the final leg to Miami due to bridge height restrictions and shallow water.10:06 The crew anchors in the Coconut Grove area after a night arrival.10:23
