Diego de Miguel operates the Sigma 38 sailboat Crobat as a mobile research platform, testing emerging marine technologies in real-world conditions.1:44 This project, titled Sailing Living Lab, integrates prototypes from various industrial and academic partners to accelerate product development and market readiness.0:46 Onboard equipment includes Solar Face photovoltaic cells integrated into composite materials, an EasyWin ultrasonic anemometer with no moving parts, and an electronic anti-corrosion system for the hull.1:52 The vessel also serves as a testbed for aerial drones, Nido Robotics underwater drones, and a biomedical diving computer developed with the University of Zaragoza.2:40 Navigation software testing utilizes TimeZero, while industrial radio controls are being adapted for winches and galley systems.3:10 The project functions through open innovation, providing engineering feedback to developers in exchange for commissions and sponsorship.4:00 Beyond technical testing, the boat participates in collaborative sailing events, such as the celestial navigation competition organized with Allende los Mares.6:31 Future plans include a transatlantic crossing to the Caribbean and a voyage along the United States East Coast.7:03
