The crew of the catamaran Zatara is replacing their twin engines with two new 110-horsepower Yanmar units.0:03 During the initial installation attempt, the engines did not fit because the existing fiberglass stringers were too tall, requiring the team to cut the stringers down by approximately 2.25 inches to lower the mounting height.3:05 While the engine holds were empty, the crew installed new magnetic bilge pump switches, PSS shaft seals, and security cameras to monitor the engine compartments and belts.2:07 They also replaced through-hull valves, using CorrosionX to treat hose clamps and fittings.9:14 The team received a shipment of Vetus components, including raw water strainers, mufflers, and air vents, to complete the installation.16:47 Additionally, the crew replaced a kitchen sink that did not fit the galley counter space with a smaller granite model.20:47 The engine installation remains in progress, with final alignment and mounting scheduled for the following week.5:02
