The crew navigates the initial 50-nautical-mile leg toward Portobello, managing light winds and variable sea states. During the transit, the crew experiments with sail configurations, including flying three furlers in light air and transitioning to a single headsail for a night watch. The passage includes an anchorage stop at a small island near the shipping lanes of Itajaí, where the crew explores local beaches and museums. Fishing efforts yield mixed results, with the crew failing to catch fish on a lure dubbed "the killer" before successfully landing sea bass later in the trip. The crew prepares the catch as ceviche and grilled fish with the help of a guest, Guilherme. The voyage marks the crew's first experience with overnight open-water sailing, maintaining speeds of approximately 4 knots in following seas.
