The crew of the catamaran Zatara is replacing their twin Volvo engines with new Yanmar 110-horsepower units at the Just Catamarans facility in Florida.0:09 Technicians removed the old engines by cutting access holes through the fiberglass engine compartments, which were subsequently sanded and painted.11:12 The new Yanmar engines feature manual throttle and gear controls to ensure redundancy if the boat's electronics fail, along with remote oil filter systems and Balmar accessory alternators.4:24 The installation includes digital displays that integrate with the existing B&G chart plotters.6:50 While the boat undergoes these mechanical upgrades, the crew is also performing interior renovations, including installing a new kitchen backsplash and preparing to replace the galley sink.8:27 Additional maintenance tasks include repairing an ice maker, reupholstering the captain's seat, and installing flush-mounted 12-volt air pumps for inflatables.14:58 The vessel is scheduled to depart for Grenada in approximately two weeks to exit the hurricane zone.15:26
