Leonie manages the 40-foot catamaran Blue Horizon solo for the first time while her partner, Thilo, is away for two weeks. She bases the boat in the protected anchorage of Kilada, Greece, before hosting two friends for a short coastal cruise. The crew sails from Kilada to Porto Heli and then to Ermioni, intentionally choosing days with light wind to build confidence in handling the vessel and anchoring maneuvers. During these passages, they maintain a relaxed pace, prioritizing safety and comfort over speed. Upon Thilo’s return with a guest, the crew encounters 25 to 35-knot gusts while rounding a cape en route to Poros. The boat arrives in Poros under challenging conditions, marking the end of the trip for the guests. The crew announces a forthcoming, abrupt change to their planned sailing route.
