A sudden squall forces the crew of the sailboat Bohemia to keep the engine running while at anchor to maintain maneuverability against dragging vessels. The crew monitors engine health using an infrared thermometer, checking the heat exchanger for temperatures above 95–100°C to prevent overheating. During a 20-mile passage to Block Island, the boat motors in light, headwind conditions while towing a dinghy. Upon arrival, the crew anchors in the bay, which features a sandy bottom and high protection. The owner participates in his first official regatta as crew on a friend's boat, noting the difference between racing and cruising tactics. Future plans include installing a Remoran hydrogenerator to increase electrical autonomy and preparing the vessel for upcoming guests. Keeping the engine ready and maintaining a constant watch are essential safety measures when anchored in crowded, weather-prone bays.
