Hva denne videoen dekker

The crew of the custom aluminum sailboat Jibsea replaces their 9.8-hp four-stroke Tohatsu outboard with a 9.8-hp two-stroke model to reduce weight for easier manual lifting. After testing the two-stroke engine on a friend’s dinghy in St. Martin, they confirm it weighs significantly less and achieves higher top speeds—reaching 32.4 knots compared to 28 knots with the four-stroke—while mounted on their 160-pound aluminum Godu dinghy. The installation process includes adjusting the trim tab anode to prevent steering pull. Additionally, the crew completes interior renovations by applying a thin teak veneer over exposed foam insulation in the cabin, sealing the wood with hand-rubbed varnish to prevent moisture damage. They also refurbish galley spice racks with high-gloss varnish and repair a light downwind sail using sail tape. Switching to a two-stroke outboard provides a substantial weight advantage for dinghy handling without sacrificing performance.
