Javi prepares his boat for a scheduled haul-out in one week at a boatyard in Chaguaramas, Trinidad. To meet yard safety requirements, he removed the headsails, including the genoa and staysail. The boat features a unique American-made roller furler that utilizes a solid aluminum rod instead of a traditional wire forestay. Javi replaced the original steel cable with a Dyneema line, which he reports functions effectively. The deck remains cluttered with halyards, though the mainsail will stay rigged for the transit to the yard.
Current maintenance plans include repainting the deck and applying new antifouling primer after the haul-out. The hull experiences rapid marine growth, with significant barnacle accumulation occurring in less than a week since the last cleaning. Javi notes that the antifouling paint has completely worn off. While anchored in the bay of Chacachacare, the crew has experienced daily rain showers but no tropical storms or hurricanes through late July.
