While waiting for a weather window in Fiji, the crew of a cruising sailboat booked a two-tank dive excursion at a local resort because their onboard dive compressor was non-functional.9:01 They completed dives at a site called Fantastic, observing soft corals including fan, whip, and carnation varieties, alongside lemon damsel fish, queen angelfish, and black-spotted pufferfish.3:08 Following the dives, the crew relocated five miles to a new bay to position themselves for an upcoming passage.11:39 During a short sail to the new anchorage, a temporary aluminum carabiner used in their custom mainsail hoisting system—referred to as the "cook hook"—failed.12:06 They replaced the carabiner with a permanent solution using Perel beads, which act as slides to allow the hook to travel smoothly along the mast.13:29 With the repair complete and favorable wind forecasts showing green conditions for a beam reach, the crew prepared for departure.17:52 They also upgraded their fishing gear, replacing a lost gaff with a new model that attaches to a mop handle to improve readiness for future catches.21:21
