The crew of the Open 66 sailboat NV spent three weeks in a North Borneo boatyard performing extensive repairs, including rudder bearing maintenance, keel work, and a gearbox replacement.0:13 To accommodate the vessel's 4.5-meter keel, the yard dug a pit, but poor communication led to an overly deep excavation that frequently flooded with rainwater.24:09 Timo and Jo cleaned and primed the bulb, replaced the J-Prop propeller, and installed a second-hand gearbox after struggling with space constraints in the engine room.23:30 They also replaced the crankshaft seal with original Volvo parts.21:27 Despite these efforts, the improper support arrangement caused the hull to compress, damaging the foam core and bending the hull planking near the keel.24:52 The crew now faces significant structural repairs to address this compression damage before the boat can be relaunched.26:54
