Didrik Godaker of Southern Cross Spars spoke with SEILmagasinet at METS Trade in Amsterdam, explaining why the show is the most important event of his year: two to three days of face-to-face contact with existing suppliers and new ones, with depth of product conversation impossible to replicate by phone or email.0:24 He highlighted two new products from Celle D1.1:36 The first is a ratchet furler with a click-stop function that lets a sailor pause mid-furl, handle other tasks, and resume without the sail unrolling.1:55 The second is Tech Furl, a top-swivel-free furling system that eliminates headstay sag by moving the load into the foil profile rather than the bearing, reducing friction and removing mechanical failure points at the masthead.2:36 Godaker noted that torsion-resistant cables and furling sails have improved significantly since early versions, and sailors who had poor experiences with Code Zero furling systems should try current products.4:21 He also observed that IMOCA-derived technology — removable stays, furling systems, halyard locks — is steadily migrating from racing to cruising use, with products becoming cheaper and more reliable as the ideas spread.4:59
