The pair later attempts to construct a primitive hot tub in an ocean tidal pool by heating rocks in a fire and placing them into the water. The project fails to produce a functional hot tub because the rocks shatter upon contact with the water and the volume of the pool proves too large to heat effectively. The effort is further complicated by heavy insect activity, including mosquitoes and no-see-ums, during the firewood collection process. The pair concludes that future attempts require a more efficient heating method and better structural support for the pool.
