Hva denne videoen dekker
The crew of NV, an Open 66, hauls the vessel out at a remote yard in North Borneo to replace the engine. With a 4.5-meter draft, the boat requires high-tide access and specialized lifting procedures. Because the yard’s standard strap configuration cannot accommodate the deep draft, Timo extends the straps with ropes to pass beneath the keel and rudder. To prevent the rudder from grounding, the crew digs a pit in the yard floor. Supporting the hull requires careful placement of concrete blocks and wooden wedges against the bulkheads to avoid structural compression, a recurring issue from previous haul-outs. The yard uses a system of stacked blocks and wedges, which the crew monitors closely for stability against wind loads. The haul-out is completed successfully, allowing the team to proceed with the engine replacement. Proper support and load distribution are critical when hauling deep-draft, lightweight foam-core vessels in yards lacking custom cradles.
