Hva denne videoen dekker
The crew of the Catalina experiences a series of equipment failures and handling challenges while sailing toward Punta del Este, Uruguay. During the passage, the stern anchor and chain break loose from their stowage and snag on a cleat while the boat is underway. In 18 to 20 knots of wind and following seas, the boat suffers an accidental jibe while the crew attempts to recover the trailing gear. The boom restraint snaps, but the leeward backstay prevents the boom from swinging fully, stopping it abruptly. The crew manages to regain control of the vessel and continues the transit, reaching speeds of 8 to 9 knots while surfing down waves. The boat sustains damage to a backstay, which the crew plans to replace upon arrival at the port. The vessel remains approximately 15 to 16 miles from Punta del Este, with the crew maintaining a vigilant watch for large swells and changing conditions.
