The crew of the *Magic Carpet* installs and tests a new cross-cut Dacron mainsail while cruising the Gulf Islands of British Columbia. The sail features three reefs, full battens, and a Dyneema leech cord. During a week-long musical tour, the boat anchors at Thetis Island, Prevost Island, and Pender Island. Near Prevost Island, the crew observes a large group of seals mating in the shallows. The voyage includes a house concert at Pender Island to celebrate the release of an album by guest musician Maya. The crew later hosts a breakfast gathering at Salt Spring, where they meet Becca from the *Tally Ho* sailing channel, highlighting the interconnected nature of the cruising community in the Pacific Northwest. The new sails provide a performance upgrade for the upcoming northward voyage.
