The Excess 15 is a 14.8-meter fractional sloop catamaran, designed by VPLP Design and built by Excess Catamarans since 2019. It features a twin keel hull, an 8.0-meter beam, a 1.4-meter draft, and displaces 18,400 kg. The catamaran has a Pulse line sail area of 171.6 square meters and can be equipped with optional twin 80hp engines and twin 175-liter fresh water tanks. MJ Sailing toured an Excess 15 at the 2023 Annapolis Spring Boat Show, comparing its helm and winch configurations to their own planned performance catamaran layout.12:20 They observed its interior design elements, such as headboard lighting and friction-latch cabinetry, to adapt concepts for wire runs, lighting, and storage within their weight-sensitive build.5:39
