Her light displacement on a moderate beam gives 22 — a moderate, middle-of-the-road motion.

Comfort ratio 22
CoastalBluewater

1.99 — just under the 2.0 offshore line; her beam is modest for her weight.

Capsize screening 1.99
LightHeavy

178 — light for her waterline, so she is easily driven and quick to accelerate.

Displacement / length 178
EasygoingPowered-up

18.5 — plenty of sail for her weight; lively and quick to respond.

Sail area / displacement 18.5
TenderStiff

29% of her weight is ballast — on the tender side; she'll heel readily and want a reef sooner.

Light and lively — happiest day-sailing and coastal-hopping in settled weather.

What the fleet has seen

The Salona 34, as the fleet has seen it

Derived from the videos the fleet has analysed of this model. ▶ marks open the moment aboard.

The Salona 34 is a 2008–2011 production cruiser-racer designed by J&J Yacht Design and built by AD Boats, Salona Yachts. It features a fractional sloop rig, a fin keel with a bulb, and a spade rudder, with an LOA of 10.0 meters and a displacement of 4900 kg. The hull below the waterline is a hand-laid solid laminate, while the deck and topsides use closed-cell PVC sandwich construction.1:17 An internal steel cage is bonded to the hull, forming a structural spider frame that supports the mast step, keel bolts, and shroud loads.1:57 The interior includes two double cabins and one head, with a reversible saloon backrest that converts into a sailing bunk.watch The engine bay, housing a Yamaha 20 hp unit, is accessible from the front for maintenance.3:38 Sea trials in 20-25 knot winds showed the boat sailing at 6.5 knots at 40 degrees to the wind with a full main and furled jib, and reaching 9 knots downwind under white sails.3:53 The cockpit seats six, but the raised mainsheet traveler and large steering wheel can restrict movement.2:34 The Salona 34 qualifies as a "natante" under Italian regulations, placing it in a lighter registration category.watch
