The Tripp 47 is a fractional sloop sailboat designed by William H. Tripp Jr., III, and built by Carroll Marine from 1992 to the present. It features a fin keel with a bulb and a spade rudder, measures 14.3 meters LOA, has a 4.2-meter beam, a 2.7-meter draft, and displaces 8527 kg. Aboard *Sail Libra*, the crew deploys the jib by falling off the wind 10 degrees, with one person managing the furling line, a second operating the winch, and a third tailing the line to prevent tangles and ensure smooth unfurling. *Sail Libra* completed a coastal passage from Key West to Pensacola, Florida, managing spinnaker trim and experiencing a minor mainsail issue after a course adjustment.watch While some sources, like *Be The Captain*, caution that former race boats like the Tripp 47 may suffer from structural stress or delamination, they are also noted for their performance.17:21
