Maya and Aladino continue the interior refit of their Cape George Cutter 36, Magic Carpet, by reinstalling shelves and backrests after completing a major hull repair.0:29 The project required removing the entire interior to address rot within the balsa-insulated hull, a task that exceeded their original scope.1:16 The crew extended the main berth after removing a cabinet that previously housed a diesel tank and a heater; they now plan to source matching upholstery from a canvas maker in Anacortes who likely produced the original cushions 20 years ago.2:29 While the couple defers finishing the floor and woodwork with varnish, they prioritize reassembling the cabin to create a functional living space.3:28 This effort serves as a morale boost, providing a tangible sense of progress after months of labor-intensive, physically demanding restoration work.5:52 Taking time to inhabit the space during the refit helps maintain motivation for the remaining tasks.6:24
