Damien and Jess are performing a complete overhaul of the electrical system on their vessel, Brupeg, a converted fishing trawler. The project involves stripping the existing battery room to bare steel, removing old Victron charge controllers and inverters, and installing a new, organized layout.1:55 During the demolition, the crew discovered significant rust beneath plywood panels that had been glued over chlorinated rubber paint, necessitating a move to a commercial dock to needle-gun the steel and apply fresh primer and paint.10:58

The upgrade includes fabricating a new hinged aluminum faceplate for the electrical panel, installing DIN rails, and repurposing stainless steel grids as cable trays.9:16 An electrician is assisting with the design and wiring, including the installation of a stainless steel frame for the generator control box.27:24 The team is also replacing old plumbing with braided stainless steel lines to eliminate hose clamps.12:48 The project aims to resolve long-standing electrical issues, including damaged battery management systems (BMS) that had melted due to heat.14:13
