The 10-year-rebuilt trawler *Brupeg* navigates the east coast of Australia toward Townsville, encountering challenging anchoring and pitching conditions at Cape Bowling Green and Magnetic Island. At Cape Bowling Green, the crew faces 15-knot winds and tidal currents that create a "washing machine" effect, forcing the vessel into an uncomfortable beam-to orientation. To manage the pitching while departing anchorages, the crew employs a tacking technique, angling the bow 30 to 45 degrees off the swell to reduce vertical motion by approximately 50 percent. The vessel utilizes passive stabilizers, which remain effective at anchor without requiring generator power. During anchoring operations, the crew uses a Dyneema safety line to secure the anchor and marks the chain with zip-tie tags every five meters to track depth. The vessel also experiences a hydraulic steering issue where pressure bleeds back into the tank through the steering wheel when the autopilot engages. The crew plans to resolve this and replace the steering wheel during an engineering stop in Townsville.
